FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Why your organisation is called Co-Guard?
The name resembles co-operation and team work while safe guarding values,
quality and good practices. It contains the company logo, a small technical device that has provided great technological advancement, a gear (cog). A small and simple device with great applications. We work in the same way: keep theory simple and comprehensible. By engaging people, the gears of an organisation, all training is focused on advancement of the organisation and improved results.
There are many online courses – why classroom training?
If we take Human Factors as an example; after years of HF training, awareness of Human
Performance Limitations, importance of communication, the Swiss cheese model and the dirty dozen are being recognised. However, awareness only does not enable organisations to apply knowledge and skills (behaviour) and are therefore soon forgotten or dismissed. In cases, it has become a theoretical exercise with limited relevance in the working environment.
Using the time and the space to make training relevant for the audience is crucial, as otherwise any investment in terms of both money and time were made in vain. As online training misses the group- and human interaction it is seen to miss an opportunity for learning and problem solving for a subject that is all about human interaction.
We believe that training itself is an instrument to kick start improvement when designed properly and in line with the target audience. Bottle-necks in communication- and operation processes are identified and with all people engaged simple suggestions may provide valuable solutions.
Why aviation?
The use of advanced technology, engineering and continuous technological developments, makes that people working in aviation are highly skilled and knowledgeable. It is a pleasure to work insuch an environment! At the same time, striving for more safety, aviation is increasingly regulated. Consequently, conflicting standards between compliance or safety standards vs. business and operational processes and standards are assumed at organisational and individual levels as both organisations and individuals feel pressurised by higher demands from the various elements in their environment.
As neither regulatory requirements, competition nor technological advance is likely to come to a halt any time soon, organisations need to balance their resources and manage their operations well. Knowing your organisation is crucial when it comes to successfully managing your business, as organisations are social systems operating in a technical environment. People are at the core of SMS and it is their behaviour and decisions contributing to safety. Insight in how this can be achieved is the added value to CoG standardised training modules.
Having said this, the above applies to other industries also and principles are widely used and
applicable. We always have the door open for any enquiries outside the aviation industry also.
